Cast Your Care
Do you ever struggle with worry? In church we are told to cast our cares unto God for He cares for us. We are told things like God will provide for you, ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find, knock and the door shall be opened unto you.
You have probably heard this verse before.
Philippians 4:6 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” (NIV)
I heard these kinds of verses severally in the past and I always wondered how come I cast all my worries but still worried. If we are honest, I think this is one area most us struggle with because we are told what to do with our worries, but we are never taught how to practice what the Bible says.
I think one of the most amazing and calming part of my journey with Christ has been discovering for myself that God is REAL. He is the same God who parted the red sea in the Exodus, the God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, is the same God today.
I believe the reason why most of us struggle with worry is because we do not believe that God is real. Yes, we pray but at the back of our minds there is that voice that keeps saying, “this will not get answered because no one is listening.” I know, I have been there severally. That is why just after your prayer, the first thing you will do is worry!
I have learnt that you cannot cast your care unless you know who you are casting your care upon. If you do not have a relationship with God, if you doubt He exists, if you do not believe that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him, the process of trusting that He has your back will be a difficult one.
Therefore, I believe too, that it is just as important to teach people what to do before telling them to cast their care, and that is to first, seek ye first thy kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you. Matthew 6:33 (KJV)
Then you want to know the most amazing part? Verse 34 says,
The word of God is legit and can be trusted, above everything else. How awesome is God?
