Life has a way of throwing obstacles, difficulties and challenges in our paths. Sometimes I look at what other people are going through and I feel like my situations cannot compare, people go through a lot of suffering, hardships and loss. This becomes a cue for me to put down my own reasonings and self-absorbed thoughts to pray for others.
There is this song I really love by King & Country, “Fix My Eyes” whenever I tune it on, my feet are the floor doing all this funny dance moves. This song encourages my faith and reminds me that my eyes should always be on Jesus.
Personally, I am learning that one of the best ways to overcome discouragement and slack moods is by making other people smile, giving to others, surprising them by little gestures, compliments, asking them if they are happy and interrogating deeper, encouraging others. I feel so much better when people smile back and say thank you.
We don’t always get to feel happy everyday because somethings comes up, we get bad reports and some life situations become too hard for us. We must therefore wake up and fix our eyes on the source of all strength and grace. Fix our eyes on the good things and the blessings, that is how we drive out the darkness, only with the light.
Philippians 4:8 “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things [are] honest, whatsoever things [are] just, whatsoever things [are] pure, whatsoever things [are] lovely, whatsoever things [are] of good report; if [there be] any virtue, and if [there be] any praise, think on these things.” (KJV)
Meditate on the blessings.
