God’s Timing
Are there days when you plan for things to go a certain way then they turn out contrary to what you had planned? Am sure your answer is yes. This happens to every person who is living under the majesty of God’s creation.
I had such a day today, I had planned to go for mass at 5.15 pm after work.
The church is quite a distance from where I work so I usually have to leave early at 4.30 pm so that I take a bus. When I got to the bus stop, I noted there was a huge crowd of people waiting for buses and noticed the traffic.
I felt really disheartened because I desperately needed to get to church early. Notwithstanding, being the active woman I am, I decided to walk some few kilometers to the next bus stop and see if I could get any luck there.
Once I got to the next bus stop it was already 5.00 pm and the stage was also packed with many people. I knew there was no way I was going to make it, then I asked God, “Why is there so much traffic today? I really needed to go for that mass” (Here, I was wondering why He didn’t see my desperate need so that He would clear up the roads because it is Him who I was running to spend time with.)
I tell you human beings— we are something else entirely.
Anyway, I decided to keep walking now without the pressure of going to church since I had already concluded I would be late, and as I walked a few metres from the bus stop I spotted a Catholic Church right across the street. I have always known it is there since I pass by there on my way to and fro work but I had never been there before because I was used to the Catholic Church I attend.
I decided to go in and find what time they held their masses. Surprisingly, there was one at 5.30 pm everyday.
I got into the church and relaxed, then immediately I spotted this Novena on the pews and habitually, being a curious reader, I picked it up and started going through it. Now, I need you to understand this statement very clearly; ALL THE QUESTIONS I WAS RUSHING TO ASK GOD AND PRAY TO HIM FOR CLARITY, I FOUND ALL THE ANSWERS IN THAT LEAFLET.
What am I getting at? He knew my heart and what was troubling it and was not tied down to a church for Him to get to me.
Psalms 139:4 “Before a word is on my tongue you know it completely, O Lord. ” (NIV)
Funny how we struggle so much in life because we try to understand Him instead of TRUSTING Him. We think that God has a human mind like ours so we end up assuming that He should reason like us, yet His word says,
Isaiah 55:8-9 “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.” (KJV)
God had already foreseen that the message that was being preached at my regular church was probably not what I needed at that exact moment and He made the circumstances tuned in such a way that I had to get to that specific church today to get my revelation and immediately, I remembered:
Romans 8:28 “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.” (KJV)
Not some things- but ALL THINGS.
