It Takes Time
If you want to become a doctor, you have to study for utmost eight to ten years just to receive the first degree and the honor of that name. Everything worth having takes time, effort, discipline and sacrifice. Ever heard of the saying “easy come easy go?”
The same concept is applied when we go to God. We have to take time to know Him, not one day or one year, we have to seek Him daily, learn about His nature and His attributes. Think of it as a parent, if you are present during the early years of your child, they know you, they follow you wherever you go, they observe how you operate, they consciously and unconsciously absorb your patterns and have an understanding who their mother and father is; and they trust you in everything.
This is similar with God, if He is truly our Father we must emulate the same attitude, that is why Jesus gave an example of children inheriting the kingdom of God due to their nature.
Matthew 18:1-4 “At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven? And Jesus called a little child unto Him, and set him in the midst of them, And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.” (KJV)
I remember one time I was going through a wearying ordeal and was having difficulty trusting God and I talked to my mother about it and she told me “just pray, trust that God is coming into your situation soon.” Now, my mother is very prayerful so I believed, if she said it, God must have told her (belly laugh).
What am I getting at? I thought she meant God was coming into my situation the following week, literally! as soon as possible, any moment now God!! (more belly laugh).
Allowing God to take the wheel in your life and to steer you to the direction He believes is best takes a lot of understanding and trust. This, however, cannot happen if we do not know who He is. His word is the key that opens up the doors to peace, to eternal life, to freedom from bondage of our sins. Study the word of God and in that way you shall learn of His attributes as a Father.
2Timothy 2:15 “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” (KJV)
God did come to my aid, but not in the way I was expecting, He was already present in that season, there was something He needed to show me but I was the one who was not allowing Him to direct me. Take your time, be patient and diligent.
