Renew Your Mind

There is a great misconception that has been with many christians for a long time now. Why do I say this? Because people are going to church but are still dealing with strife in their lives, anger, jealousy, deep respectability, mood swings, etc, (the list is long) If you can remember there is a post I wrote in 2017 called true religious freedom. I can recall there is somewhere I said that there are dogmas and principles, let me call them ‘certain flow of things’ that people follow which inhibit them to learn about God’s nature and know who He is.

A certain colleague of mine ask me today, if I am a staunch catholic because he needed me to explain a practice he has observed in catholic churches and was seeking clarification. I told him that I am not a staunch catholic, but I am a staunch christian. I may have deep roots in the catholic teachings but they do not bind me to Catholicism.

The problem we have with our society is we have these mindsets that faith is a religion. No! No!No! Faith is believing that the Son of Man came to deliver us from bondage and He is the Way, the Truth and the Life. We have so many christians, including I BC (Before Christ) who are highly deceived that God is the ‘guy’ you visit on Sunday’s only, sing hymnals to, unconsciously fantasizing about what I am going to eat for lunch or rememberimg an altercation or a conversation I had with a friend. It does not matter which church you attend, or which church has the right teachings in comparison to another. What matters is your faith in God.

I am so passionate about this message and I wish I could open up people’s eyes myself to show them the TRUTH. But the mysteries of God will never be revealed to an unbeliever! This is as true as the scriptures below,

Matthew 13:14 “In them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah: “‘You will be ever hearing but never understanding; you will be ever seeing but never perceiving.

Matthew 13:15 “For this people’s heart has become calloused; they hardly hear with their ears, and they have closed their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts and turn, and I would heal them.”

Matthew 13:17 “For I tell you the truth, many prophets and righteous men longed to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it” (NIV)

My faith is based on Gospel of the birth, death and resurrection of Jesus. I remember coming across this quote in campus while studying Economics ‘religion is the opium of the masses’ I will not get into details of the statement but I see where Karl Marx was driving at with its analysis.

The true nature and love of God is incomprehensible and beyond human understanding, I am still in awe of His Majesty, because everyday He instructs and teaches me something new, this means His wisdom is eternal and infinite.

I am telling you the truth, this Scripture saved my life and I always have it inscribed in my heart.

Romans 12:1-2 “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, [which is] your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what [is] that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”(KJV)
