Stay Committed
Are you that person who rushes to God only when you are in trouble? I believe this message is for you. Stop that habit and get right with God. We have a tendency of crying out to God when things go wrong with a ‘fix it fast’ mentality and that is not His nature. When our circumstances improve we abandon Him until the next time we need His intervention.
God is a God of commitment and consistency. He is a God of discipline and principles. Many times we go to Him waiting for Him to do something hastily about our circumstances and when this does not happen we start complaining, going to the extent of saying He never listens to our prayers, questioning whether He even cares for us or even trying to coerce Him into working out our situations according to the outcome we deem best.
God listens clearly and perfectly to all our cries but you are His creation and not the other way around. He does not take orders from men. Isaiah 45:11… “This is what the Lord says, the Holy one of Israel and it’s Maker: concerning things to come, do you question me about my children, or give me orders about the work of my hands?” (NIV)
I have come to realize with time, a dedicated christian life is not smooth sailing. It is a hard life of laboring, requiring one to denounce the world completely and focus on God’s kingdom, to inherit another world abandoning entirely the whimsical desires of this world and living a life that is acceptable to God. It is pain in the flesh and as human beings we don’t like pain in any form. It is a daily sacrifice without seeing the results of your inputs but remembering that your reward does not lie here on earth, but with the world to come. 2Timothy 2:3 “Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.” (KJV)
It is carrying your cross daily with total obedience and submission to the call and will of God. Luke 9:23 “And He said to [them] all, If any [man] will come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.” (KJV)
This does not mean that God wants us to suffer in our lives. John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (KJV)
We have been reconciled to God by the ultimate sacrifice of Christ. We no longer have to strive to gain God’s favor because Jesus already paid that price on the cross. We only need to turn to Him with sincere hearts and repent our ways. Follow Him entirely with one heart, one mind, one soul and with all our strength. God is so loving, my desire is that we human beings only dare ourselves to believe in His promises.
