My Daily Hope
The Lord is my hope and strong tower. He leadeth me to the everlasting way. He is merciful and loving. He bears all my burdens and sorrows and increaseth all joy and hope unto my soul.
Yay, many times I stumble and fall but His righteous hand uplifts me. Even in the darkest hour, the Lord is my firm hope. Whence shall I be saved? And who shall wash away my guilt and sin? Only He, Whom God hath laid upon Him mine iniquities. For though my sins be as scarlet, they have been made as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they have been made as wool.
My heart rejoiceth greatly for the cross. O rugged old cross. My heart swells with gratitude when I see my Lord hanging on the cross for my sake. Surely He hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet many esteemed Him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities and the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with His stripes we are healed.
O Lord, how my heart is desperately wicked, how I observe as it schemes and despises the work of the Holy Spirit. How it is lax and slow for the purposes of God but quick and fast to indulge the flesh. O, how my heart is deceitful and desperately wicked. Who can know it? You O Lord search the hearts of men and try the reins, giving each one according to the fruits of his doings.
Who can save us from this inner war? Strengthen us to run this race faithfully, that when our days are over and our number is up, we shall rejoice gladly in death. We shall burst in song and sing for joy saying, O death where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? For to live is Christ and to die is gain.
Therefore, when the weight is unbearable and my heart fails heavily, Let me only fall on the hands of my Savior, for comfort and rest. The psalmist said,
What more need I fear?
