Friday! And Good Morning!

It is such a great blessing to be speaking to you once again through this platform. That the grace of God sees us through another day still remains a great mystery to me.

Lamentations 3:22-23

That means every single day, we get a do over. Therefore, we can begin a fresh because His mercies are new every morning. Looking no more at the mistakes made in the past but pressing forward to be better, wiser and experience new adventures.

So toilet paper and hand sanitizers? Yes! Lol…you see where I am getting to with this.

However, I do not blame men but understand that we have inherited fearful traits because we live in a world ruled by the prince of fear. Firstly, no body wants to die. Secondly, people have acquired this mindset that there will never be enough for everybody and thus reason: “if we do not grab a hold of what is there, we might suffer and die.”

Now, many find zealous Christ followers peculiar, but myself, I find this behaviour peculiar… and I am not even saying this from self-righteous posture. But really though? Ten sanitizers for you and your family only?

Unfortunately, people have inherited a scarcity mindset and this mindset is manifest everywhere: in our places of work, at home, with friends, neighbors, at school, in our churches and as we can see more clearly: when there is a crisis.

Scarcity mentality always assumes the worst. There is not enough.

But this is a true and raw depiction of a world operating without the knowledge of God.

The creator of this universe is a God of more than enough. And what I mean by this is that each and every person has already been provided for from creation. From the beginning of times and not just a provision of getting by. But a provision of more than enough, but many have no knowledge of this.

2 Corinthians 9:8 Amplified Bible

I am not writing this post from a perspective of somebody who has always known God to be this kind of a provider. I also have deep roots of fear of not having enough, because this is how most of us are brought up.

Having lived in a cut throat world, I also learnt the principle of “man for himself and God for us all.” God have mercy! How then do I blame people who rush to clear the shelves at the store? I can only feel sorry for the world because truly, it does not understand the riches in God’s teachings — otherwise men would not suffer in a manner so defeated.

When God began bringing His light to my own scarce mentality, He showed me how deficient truly I was in sharing and giving. All the while I thought I was a true giver. In fact, I used to think— “well I am not mean, I know I am above average, I’ll go to heaven.” 😂 I am telling you the word of God pulls down strongholds for sure (if that was not some deep level of pride, I don’t even know 😂).

There is a verse that has ministered to me over time about this kind of mindset that has been breaking down those chains.

Psalms 24:1

That means, He is the owner of everything; He is the owner of all riches in the world; He is the owner of the mountains and the sea, that is why Caleb declared so boldly, give me this mountain that the Lord promised me that day!

That same God is the same one on our side. You and I belong to the Lord, that means the works we do and the fruit of our labor belong to Him. But man thinks himself to be the author of his own achievements and provider of his own needs. That is why in a time of crisis such types of peculiar behaviors are eminent: fighting for toilet papers, hand sanitizers, clearing of food from the shelves, hoarding, selfshiness and the like.

Peter called Christians a peculiar people, because truly, we are the ones who when there is a casting down we say there is a lifting up; when there is war and strife, we practice and preach peace; when there is a crisis, we are at rest; where there is selfishness, we introduce light by sharing.

1Peter 2:9

Scarcity mentality is not of God! He is the creator of the universe. He is a God of overflow. So the way I have come to know Him over time has encouraged me to be a giver and no longer a hoarder. If He will supply all my needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus therefore, for what reason should I worry about tomorrow?

Many will not understand these words, but it is okay because the word of God is foolishness to those who are perishing. The thing is, in as much some find such words to be boastful or arrogance goes to show how deep rooted the issue is. Think of David, wasn’t David given by God Kingdoms to conquer? Wasn’t Solomon granted by God all grandeur and splendor of His time? God did not create us to be poor! And by this I do not mean material wealth. He created us to be so rich in the spirit and mind that we see our inner man to be poor for the sake of those still living in the darkness— to humble ourselves for service to others.

If you look at the contrast in the story of the widow who gave just two coins as opposed to those who were giving large sums of money, you will recognize the basis of my words. Being that the two coins is all she had and gave it away, Jesus thought her as rich. Why? Because she understood that the little she had was nothing compared to the knowledge of God inside of her — that her Lord provides.

When you read the Psalmist David, He said:

“The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.” This amazes me, because when you read the story of David, at some point he lacked — there was a time he went to seek refuge in his enemy’s camp [Philistines] whose warrior Goliath he had smote. Refer [1 Samuel 21 & Psalms 34]

—For you are a peculiar people!

—And the righteous shall live by faith!

This goes to show, scarcity is not in resources but it is in the mind. As a man thinketh in his heart so is he. Oooooh! If we only knew, the riches that are in God’s kingdom, we would always live sharing and giving, never worrying about tomorrow.

Nehemiah 9:6

Now may the Lord who made the heavens and the earth, provide for us according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus and may we who are called by His name seek to gain understanding and wisdom that He may open our eyes that we may see the wonderful things in His law.

May you all have a lovely and blessed day, walking in abundance and a mind of more than enough!

In JESUS name!

Amen!
