Life is so beautiful isn’t it? Well, there was a time I never really understood the meaning of any of it and thinking about it made me worry about death as well and that, terrified me to the bone!
Now, I am exceedingly joyous! The skies are beautiful, the moon is stunning, the air is fresh, the trees are swaying, my birdie friends always sing to me in the morning and more than this, I have all that I need.
I no longer worry about death because I have found the secret of life.
Philippians 1:21 —For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
Favourite Bible verse to combat worry and anxiety 🙂
The love and peace of Christ is something unexplainable. When you have Him in your heart like the most precious possession, you feel every single emotion, you look at the world differently, you love people and want to serve people, you see the suffering and want to be a part of the healing too, just as Jesus was.
For those of you who have watched Spiderman, notice how he is able to smell everything, hear every single cry and how all his senses are heightened— now imagine that but more. Life stops revolving around you and starts revolving around Jesus. He places in your heart a need to serve and removes the need to be served. The love for others is amplified and all you want to do is tell people about His sweet love, great mercies and pure garments because the old sins are washed away; and the inexpressible joy and peace He has placed in your heart is just bubbling outwards.
Now, here is one thing man has searched for frantically all his life, he has sought for peace, purpose, and identity in sensuality, drugs, sex, power, money, wealth, food, entertainment but nothing! All these things like drugs, they get you high for a moment but then they fade away, gone, gone away like the wind blows. Then after, the worries, fears, questions and anxieties set back in.
‘What am I doing with my life? people seem to be doing better than I am, why am I still getting paid these small wages? when will I ever get married, what if I never get married? what if I lose the ones I love, will I ever recover or heal? why do we have to die? what happens after death? will I ever accomplish my goals? why do I still feel empty? how will my kids turn out? I don’t have enough money to pay my bills, work is stressful, my boss never understands my pressures. What is my purpose? Why am I here?….my goodness I could write a whole book on worries and cares! Ask me, I was an expert.
But beneath all these worries and cares, there is an answer. A solution.
If only people would really comprehend this verse, then and only then would their eyes be opened and would they understand why they were born—their whole life’s purpose.
Ask yourself, what are these things that shall be added unto me? I can help you out with this one—Peace, security, hope, joy, contentment, faith in place of fear and all fruits of the Holy Spirit manifested within you. All God’s good blessings and tidings in abundant measure.
Then would you guess what verse 34 says?
Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
So! Go after the Lord with all your heart, mind body and soul. In fact, this is a command Jesus gave,
Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. —Matthew 22:37-38
Let us even think about it this way, supposing you have a child and you leave your child alone even for a day. Alone he/she is lost and confused and all the child can do is cry.
That is each and everyone of us on earth, all crying inwardly searching for answers and purpose, trying to fit the missing puzzle through people’s acceptance or approval, partying and indulging in worldly desires only to lay down at the end of the day in bed mentally stressed. After these symptoms of stress fully develop, they manifest themselves as grumpiness, complaining, gossiping, irritability, unhappiness, depression, unfulfilled life, and even snapping at people.
What joy! What peace! What love! What abundance! What fulfillment! What craving! What contentment! What life! What purpose! What wholeness! What pureness! What bliss! What overflow! What sweetness! What bounty! What serenity! What stillness! What tranquility! What assurance! What hope ! What drive! What health! What calmness! What freedom it is to have Christ as the Lord of your life.
All striving cease, all questions are silenced when Jesus takes the wheel while you seat back, watch and emulate Him. The only thing you can say is— “I have found the best thing, and because of this, I cannot help but shout to the world, go tell it to the mountains, over the hills and everywhere that there is a man Jesus who stills the storms of life.”
However, yes! There is a however! When you give your life to Christ, do not suppose that the devil will not try to fight you from experiencing His entirety. The devil will come at you hard with accusations, condemnation, blame, guilt, failure, shame and all the negative thoughts your mind has exercised itself with since you were born.
And the one he uses as a favorite weapon, telling you not to even dare tell your friends, loved ones or people around you that you now live for Jesus. he convinces you how they will ridicule you and think you are crazy, that you will cease being a cool person and people will call you a ‘Jesus freak’
Let me squeeze in something real funny here. One time, somebody asked me, “which church do you attend?” And since I don’t like this whole affiliation with a particular church business, I didn’t answer, I just smiled, thinking inwardly. “I just follow Christ.” So one person who overheard that question was kind enough to answer for me and enlighten us. He said, “most likely she attends the Salvation Army” 😂 I actually didn’t know whether to laugh, cry or be offended. I just smiled and said inwardly, “I thank God I am counted worthy to be thought a weirdo for Your namesake”
This is the cross you have to carry for believing in Jesus. He said, “they persecuted me, so they will persecute you too” and because you are His, they will do the same thing to you, but James said, count it all joy! For they make fun now, attack and even in some countries kill christians but don’t quite really comprehend the wisdom of God.
Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
Therefore, no matter what! Hold on to the Lord Jesus and His words. Never let go. Only in Him can one find perfect peace, a peace that man cannot give or take away, a peace that surpasses all understanding, not even man can understand the joy and peace you walk around in.
Even if the whole world falls apart right before your very eyes, the Lord is your rock and firm foundation. He is with you, His promises never fail, He is true to every single word, claim and truth He has declared Himself to be.
There is no single part of your life Jesus cannot touch. He fixes everything, He restores everything, He is the Bread of life, The Living water, The Resurrection and the Life, The Way, the Truth and the Life, The Narrow gate, The Good shepherd, The Vine, The Light of the world, The Wonderful counsellor, He is the Mighty God, the Prince of Peace, The Beginning and the end.
The peace of God is unexplainable because it is not of this world and even if I write about it all my life, one can never really understand it through words. The Lord only, and only the Lord! Can give it.
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. —John 14:27
