A Prayer For Unity In The Diversity of Calling In Christ
Our Dear and Eternal God,
Thank You for the gift of life and relationships. Thank You for all the people we have met along the way of life. Many of them having such diverse backgrounds and cultures, I am astounded by how You made us all so different. All human beings, but having opinions and possessing characteristics distinct from one another. I pray for them all, asking that You may bless them and do a new thing in their lives and those of their families.
Lord, this day, I would like to thank You for the calling You have given each and everyone of us in Christ. Thank You for the mark of authenticity in each and every person. Many times we fail to recognize that there is no other person in the world who is able to carry out the work You have entrusted us, as unique individual persons. We struggle with accepting our individualities.
We try so hard to be like so and so, and live like so and so,– but we are all different. And in Your wisdom and sovereignty, You saw it worthy that we should be born in this specific age and into these specific families we have today. May we recognize this wonderful blessing of diversity we possess and embrace it; so that it may bring glory to Your name. Thank You because nothing is ever a mistake with You. You know all things, and Your understanding is beyond our understanding.
Lord, thank You for each of us carrying the light of Jesus Christ in our different places of calling. We repent of our envious hearts which even covet other people’s lives and calling. Give us a heart of contentment and gratitude, that we may understand that in Your wisdom, You saw no better people suited to do Your work in this 21st Century, and in the exact geographical locations You set us up in. Help us to learn to appreciate and embrace with joy the race set before us.
Just as the writer of the book of Hebrews encourages us, “to lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and run with endurance the race that is set before us.”
Father, we have also fallen short many, many times in representing You truthfully. We have acted contrary to the walk worthy of that which You have called us through Christ. And by this, we have caused Your name to be blasphemed among men. Forgive us.
Lord, if there is one thing in this life that the human race is, and will be, eternally grateful to You for, is Your grace. Thank You for being so gracious, long-suffering, and understanding with us; more-so, because we are undeserving. We ask now, that You help us that we may not take this grace for granted, but that we may do that which is pleasing in Your eyes.
Grant us Your Holy Spirit to shun evil, to resist the devil, and to overcome the obstacles and challenges we face in this world today with You at our right hand always.
Remind us even when we fall, that we are no longer under damnation O Father, but we are free from all condemnation thanks be to our Lord Jesus Christ who paid it all for us.
For Your word assures us that, there is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. Romans 8:1
Lord, I pray for all the ministries that are representing You in truth. May Your face shine upon them and cause them to abound more and more in grace. I pray as well for those ministries representing You out of vain glory,– to acquire riches, extort money from others among other vain motives. To be honest, the first thought that comes to my mind for such people is, “strike them all with your wrath!” But in all fairness, they deserve mercy just as we deserve mercy too.
Therefore, Lord, use their ministries too for Your great purposes; that the name of Jesus may continue to be published and known in all the world, so that many may hear and receive Him as Lord.
May You have mercy on them who do evil in Your name. Forgive them, that they may see the light of truth and turn away from their deeds and receive Your forgiveness and sanctification.
We remember all the missionaries working for You in hostile countries. Give them the grace and the Holy Spirit to do Your work and endure hardness like good soldiers of Jesus Christ. Provide for all their needs and deliver them from all trouble. Thank You because in Your eyes, we are more than the price of two sparrows.
We praise You too for mothers, fathers, street preachers, singers, artists, composers, cooks and bakers, shepherds, window cleaners, students in the campuses, children, nurses and doctors, law enforcement, teachers, pastors, tailors, shoemakers, dishwashers, men and women in construction, janitors, firemen, politicians, all leaders, and all people from different walks of life that are carrying the light of Jesus Christ. Lord unite us all as one body, that we may do Your Will with joy.
Thank You for such a high calling. May our actions and the faith we profess in the Lord go hand in hand. Make us to shine as the bright morning star, that we may bear lasting fruit for the Kingdom of God. Cause us to be different, to be set apart,– not operating as the world, but as ambassadors of Jesus Christ.
Thank You that we are Your servants, I pray that You may give us all a heart of faithfulness to run the race that You have given every one of us with diligence. Remembering each other in prayer, and supporting each other in every way.
Call us Lord, and send us all into the battlefield to stand for Christ.
In Jesus Precious Name,
Amen.
