John 12:46 I have come into the world as light, so that no one who believes in Me should stay in darkness

In Christ Alone; The Most Sure and Solid Rock

Hello friends,

So, there is this song that I heard  last year for the very first-time and it truly brought me to tears as I listened to the lyrics. Every single word just came alive as the Holy Spirit ministered to me through those words penned and sang about twenty years ago.

My tears were a spontaneous response from hearing the full gospel preached in a song. Adding to the tone, mood, tune, and melody just brought out the emotions like a flood as I began reflecting back on how much Jesus had gone through so that I would never be lost. (Especially where the lyrics said, “sin’s curse has lost its grip on me, for I am His and He is mine.”) It is amongst my favorite worship songs today because it always reminds me of the depth of the love of Jesus for me.

I would like to share with you the lyrics of the song. I will as well share the link of the song from you-tube at the end of the post so that you may also get to listen to it when you get a chance.

As you read through the lyrics, may the Holy Spirit minister to you in a way only He knows how to.

In Christ Alone Lyrics

In Christ alone, my hope is found

He is my life, my strength, my song

This cornerstone, this solid rock

Firm through the fiercest drought and storm

What heights of love, what depths of peace

When fears are stilled, when strivings cease!

My comforter, my all in all

Here in the love of Christ I stand

In Christ alone, who took on flesh

Fullness of God in helpless babe

This gift of love and righteousness

Scorned by the ones He came to save

Till on that cross as Jesus died

The wrath of God was satisfied;

For every sin on Him was laid

Here in the depth of Christ I live

There in the ground, His body lay

Light of the world by darkness slain

Then bursting forth in glorious day

Up from the grave He rose again!

And as He stands in victory

Sin’s curse has lost its grip on me

For I am His, and He is mine

Bought with the precious blood of Christ

On Christ the solid rock stand

All other ground is sinking sand

All other ground is sinking sand

On Christ the solid rock stand

All other ground is sinking sand

All other ground is sinking sand

No guilt in life, no fear in death

This is the power of Christ in me

From life’s first cry, to final breath

Jesus commands my destiny

No power of hell, no scheme of man

Can ever pluck me from His hand

Till He returns, or calls me home

Here in the power of Christ I’ll stand!

The End

Such a profound song glorifying God and reminding us of how He has redeemed us from the corruption of sin into the glorious hope of eternal life. Truly, even when everything else shakes and crushes, on Christ the Solid Rock we stand, all other ground is sinking sand!

Thank You Jesus for the sacrifice to die on the cross for us. We did not deserve such love, but You loved us anyway. Lord, may we always look towards eternal life with glorious hope. For we cannot compare the short time we will spend in this world with eternity.

Romans 8:35-39 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written: “For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.” Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
