A Prayer for all Experiencing Depression and Suicidal Thoughts

Dear Lord,

I know it must come as no surprise to You when I say that this world is a ruthless and pitiless place. Yet – I worship and adore You – for despite knowing this fact, You nevertheless tread upon its roads; sharing the joys and sorrows we experience.

Lord, in a special way today I pray for those who are walking upon this earth yet have lost all hope in life. I pray for all those who are burdened in one way or another by the circumstances of life; shouldering loads too heavy for them to bear.

Lord, You Yourself experienced the harsh nature of life on this earth. The world, despite Your being perfect, treated You with utmost disdain and nailed You to a cross. And for this, I know You identify full well with pain and the mental stresses caused by pain. Lord, I present this prayer to You because I know that You can relate with every single boy or girl, man or woman who is walking a difficult road at this moment.

I pray for every single person contemplating suicide right now. Father, in Jesus Name I ask that You locate them all wherever they are and that You heal their hearts, minds and souls. Deliver them Lord from believing the lies of the world, the lies of the devil and the lies of their ‘unworthiness’. Lord, so many are suffering in this present age as a result of pressures by the world to fit in, failed expectations, physical and even sexual assault, cyber-bullying and so many other problems.

Lord, I pray for all those who are afraid; all those who have been rejected by friends or family members. I pray for all those who have been rejected by society due to social norms or even because of physical appearance. Lord, as sure as I know You to be a redeemer and a restorer of the broken, I pray and confidently ask that Lord You meet every single person being encompassed by any sort of depression, suicidal thought, and even rejection wherever they are in this moment and save them from the deceptions of the enemy.

Lord, I pray for all who have been sexually violated in whatever kind of setting and are now haunted by feelings of shame, unworthiness and hopelessness. I pray for all those who are genuinely struggling with sinful and even unnatural sexual desires. Those who are afraid to even utter those feelings they battle with to others for fear of judgement or even ridicule. Lord, in Your mercy and loving-kindness, I pray that You touch and heal each and every one of them – desperate and in need of salvation. Father, I pray that in this moment they will experience Your loving and redeeming touch.

Lord, I pray that in You they will find a friend as well; one whom they can confide in; a friend with whom they will not be afraid or even ashamed to pour out their hearts and feelings to. For Jesus, You have surely promised that You shall not cast out anybody who comes to You. Lord, it is written of You that: a bruised reed You will not break, and a smoldering (dimly burning) wick You will not put out, till You bring justice and a just cause to victory.

John 6:37 All that the Father giveth Me shall come to Me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.

Truly, thank You for this assurance and this open door to approach You O Lord. I pray that many today under the stroke of my pen will flow to Your direction by the droves in Jesus Name: to receive the healing, the peace and the rest they so greatly desire.

Lord Jesus, there is already so much condemnation going on around in the world. Father today, I pray for healing and restoration in the masses. Pull out of the fire every single individual who is experiencing self-condemnation, guilt, despondency and shame at this moment. Draw to Yourself also, those that have a stubborn will O God, for it is Your desire that none should perish, but that all should come to the knowledge of the truth, and to repentance; and experience the love You offer freely at no cost.

Father, I pray that this prayer stands in the gap for all such persons experiencing depression and suicidal thoughts going forward. That no boy or girl, man or woman will ever be lost again, O Jesus, without a fight of the Holy Spirit’s persuading and pulling power. Lord, deliver; for You are the only deliverer there is; set every captive free for You have vowed to do so in Your very word which You have given unto us.

Lord, how I pray that all who are captives of mental stresses would this day – know- that You are gracious and merciful; slow to anger and abounding in love. How I pray O God that they would know that You can be trusted even with the most darkest of thoughts, secrets and even desires – because Your safe and radiant light, O Lord, expels all kinds of darkness. Lord Jesus, how I pray that all who are troubled and vexed by suicidal and depressive thoughts this day, find You: the source of all peace of mind, heart and soul. In Jesus Mighty Name!

Amen.

Matthew 11:28-30 Come unto Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.

Okay… Let’s just be honest, whenever most people hear anything about religion, their first reaction and instinct is probably to cringe or brush off the whole matter entirely.

Why? Most likely because it is a subject that is associated with extreme cases of fanaticism, it brings about a lot of conflicts and controversies, and even offends easily.

Religion is famously known for: manipulation, stagnation, repression, ignorance, bigotry and is too often a threat to liberty. And rightly so. I do agree. With that said, I recommend you to read two of my posts as well as encourage you to do a personal, extensive, and honest research on your own regarding this matter. Why?

As intellectuals (critical thinkers), I believe we owe it to ourselves to interrogate, examine, and ask hard questions regarding matters touching on faith rather than choosing to ignore them or even worse— follow blind faith. Click here for the first post.

Who speaks the truth with regards to a genuine, sincere and true relationship with God? Is it Buddha? Muhammad? Jesus? Zoroaster? Confucius? Joseph Smith? Guru Nanak? Krishna? Among others? Find out on this second post:

Why Jesus Stands Out

My heart overflows with a goodly matter; I speak the things which I have made touching the king: My tongue is the pen of a ready writer. Psalms 45:1
