The creator of the universe is closer than we think. He is with us at all times, though many times we fail to recognize His presence, He surrounds us always.
In the past, I assumed that God stayed somewhere in space and when we prayed, He weighed His answers according to our conduct. So you can imagine how low my expectations were, of getting any of my prayers answered.
I thought that by faithfully praying the rosary and the saints intercessory prayers, He would maybe see my dedication and answer me. However, I honestly did not know there was a deeper realm to touching God and of knowing He is right here with us, in all things and at all times.
That kind of depth can only be found by coming to Jesus. Just as we are. No in-between mediators, no hindrances, no works or good deeds to make us first at least acceptable.
Just as we are.
We need not fix ourselves first or try to deal with the pride, the anger, the heartbreak, the rejection, the pornography, the suicidal thoughts, the jealousy, the impatience, the hate, the pressure to conform to this world and all the strongholds the prince of this world has made one believe they can never overcome.
The righteous lives we desire to live, without guilt and condemnation only Jesus can help us to live it. For,
Indeed in Christ, we are a new creation, the old is passed away, behold all things have become new.
Jesus baptizes not with water but with the Holy Ghost. And the Holy Spirit transforms our lives day by day. Not condemning us when we fall, but convicting us to be better and to keep going. Therefore, the perception people have of God waiting for us to make a mistake so that He can write us off, is false and from the devil.
I did not know Him, but He who sent me to baptize with water said to me, ‘Upon whom you see the Spirit descending, and remaining on Him, this is He who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.’
Therefore, Jesus is in the business of grace. For He did not come to the world to condemn it, but through Him whosoever believes in Him should have eternal life.
The Lord is gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and He is always close to the broken hearted.
However, it is also as important to know that the Lord’s grace will one day cease. God said, “my Spirit shall not always strive with man.” His long-suffering will come to an end, just like in the times of Noah. That is why it is paramount to seek Him while He may be found.
There are words Jesus spoke, that even up-to now, I marvel at.
Oh that today, we would hear His voice and harden not our hearts from Him. For He is close. Only a confession and a heart, mind, body and soul, submission away.
