Actually, I Can

Something pretty amazing happened this past weekend.

Eliud Kipchoge’s 159 Marathon challenge.

I know most people are like we know… But what you probably do not know is that, what he did on 12th October 2019 challenged and inspired millions of lives including mine.

There are days to be honest, I sit down and look at my dream board and wonder if I am crazy, over dreaming or over expectant. I would be lying to you if I told you those days are minimal, No! they are the most. I normally feel as though I am under fire, under valued, under funded, under qualified, under appreciated and over worked. Some days, I am ready to take off for the hills but I find myself looking for ways to encourage myself which I can say has become an amazing courageous habit.

So back to Eliud, I believe most people missed the whole point of the 159 challenge.

For those who are unaware of the background story, our very own Kenyan athlete managed to become the only person in the world to run a marathon under two hours.

On the surface, the challenge seemed as though he was trying to prove that no human is limited. But if we are to scratch beneath the surface, we would realize this was more of purpose. He had purpose to fulfill, not a point to prove and I am sure if he had gone with the mindset of proving a point, he would not have managed to achieve his intended goal.

As somebody put it very wisely, “vision goes before a man” He knew in his heart, in his mind and in his spirit that he would beyond the shadow of a doubt cross the finish line under the 1:59hrs.

The unfortunate thing about the world is that people do not realize that success is actually more spiritual than it is discipline, determination and hard work. In case, you didn’t get that point, let me repeat.

When I talk about spirituality here, I do not mean, just prayer or going to church, or fasting many days… nothing of that sort. I mean connecting to a higher power, talking, listening, hearing from a higher power and recognizing that if it has been said, therefore it is and if it is, therefore the latter must follow. I hope I haven’t lost you there— if for example I came and told you, you are going to have 60 million dollars by 2025 (somebody say Amen!) and I know it for sure or (let us even use an example of Steve Jobs) say, somebody told him when he was 18 years old he would become a world class co–creator, designer and engineer of the biggest product to take over the global market, he would have either worked tirelessly (which we know he did) or sat down and waited for that to happen through osmosis and diffusion only to realize he is 80 and still broke.

Here is my point, when you hear a word from God or a vibration from the universe, that word is true. Period. Only the wise get to recognize that you have to :

  1. Write down that word
  2. Ask and call it in
  3. Work your way through the hell because it’s not going to be confetti and glitters to get it
  4. Recognize that you already have it while you are in the process.

To understand these statements clearly, I will quote two verses that have been such a core part of my formulation and execution of my dreams.

And my favorite of all because I am writer

That the herald may run with it! Can you believe it? We have the ability to influence our dreams just with the power of writing it down, calling it out and making it known to the world.

I am not saying that Eliud must have been spiritual, but I am certain that you don’t blow the trumpets on your dreams to aim and miss. No way! You know, that you know, that you know, that you know, that you know, there is no way you will miss. Period!

So, here we are. Revise your dream boards and add some bold things there that make you scared and also laugh at yourself at the same time.
