Letters to God (The Battle Within)

Numbness arrests my soul when I think of all my weaknesses and your calling at the same time. But when I remember that all your children all over the world are going through the same kinds of trials and tribulations, my spirit gets strengthened.

I am not alone, we are an army.

But, Oh how weak our flesh is. It is rooted into the desires of this world, the cravings of this world, the needs of this world. How we want to sleep some more than to pray a little, how we want to eat, drink and be merry than to fast and deny our flesh. How we want to be accepted and not to be rejected. How our flesh drives us to prefer being politically correct rather than biblically accurate. How we want to be comfortable and not cause waves.

How we prefer to beat around the bush with worldly wisdom than speak your wisdom with the authority you have given unto us. How some days we feel burdened to bear your name. How we waste much time quarrelling and wrestling against your will and your calling, wanting to escape from you like Jonah and even how we want to make our cross bearing a sort of quid pro quo. A trade off rather than self denial.

Matthew 16:24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any [man] will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

We seek you in sackcloth and ashes, more desperate now. The raging battle between good and evil, flesh and spirit, eternal life and eternal death intensifies by the day. It shall not depart from us as long us there is breath in us.

Shall we therefore sleep? Shall we therefore be cowardly during a time such as this? Shall we therefore live ashamed of you? Shall we worry ourselves sick meditating on what men think of us? Oh what a short period it is, what a blink of an eye time we have on earth to bear the cross for our Lord Jesus compared to the eternity that is to come.

Permit not therefore that we should be overcome by the flesh, that we should slumber or that our lamps go out.

Permit only that we be faithful soldiers, ready in season and out of season with our swords in our mouths; occupying till you come and waiting patiently for our bridegroom.

Refill us. For you understand what it means to be in this flesh, to experience spiritual warfare. There in the garden of Gethsemane where you tossed and turned in prayer, where you were tempted to deny your cross. That the cup of suffering for humanity’s sake be taken from you. Where you must have wrestled with the thought, “if there be any other way other than the cross that the world could be saved.

Strengthen us to rise early and put on our full armour for the sake of our brothers and sisters without the true knowledge of salvation.

John 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

Oh child of God, how the devil attacks us, accuses us, reminds us of our weaknesses, amplifies the achievements of other children of God and makes us doubt and question our calling, our purpose and even our salvation.

“You will never be able to speak like that, just give it up. You are too weak. Nobody cares what you have to say. Let people live their own lives and make their own decisions concerning God.”

Accusation after accusation after accusation after accusation.

The trials, the compromises, the heartbreaks, the exhaustions, the chastening try to weigh on us. Darkness tries to overcome us, like it overcame the world on the dreadful hour when man attempted to kill God at Calvary.

Most days we want to quit and exit the battlefield, but where shall we go and to whom shall we go? Like Peter said, you have the words of eternal life.

Strengthen us that we may stand firm on the unshakable thing after all worldly things have been shaken and passed away.

Our Faith in Christ.

Proverbs 24:16 For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.

Permit not we lose our saltiness and be trampled upon. For you are our source of life and our source of purpose. Help us to bear our crosses with courage despite the devils attempts to pull us away from you, to kick us when we are down, to taunt us with our weakness and to even make us question our salvation.

Reach out to us and help us up Oh Lord, that we my run our races faithfully like our fathers of faith before us.

We are spread out all over the world but we are still one body. We are the lights of the world in Pakistan, in Ukraine, in Russia, in the UK, in the Philippines. There is an ambassador of Christ represented in every country in the world, though we all suffer different types of persecution, we forbear and we persevere for we have a glorious end ahead.

We cling on to you our redeemer, our saving hope. This world is not our home, this world is foreign to us but you have purposed us to live in it and bear witness for you. Let us keep running filled with the joy we first experienced when we encountered you and discovered that our reason for existence was to serve you. This will make it a worthwhile time here on earth.

And after we have finished our testimony and run our races, when we will leave this world behind, buried deep in the dirt from whence we came from; we shall await the sound of the trumpets blast — to see you again in glory on the last day.

This world with its darkness and wisdom shall pass away but you Oh Lord shall never pass away, for you are the one true Word.

Now, child of God, look up now to the heavens and be strengthened; then look to the thousands that perish without Christ. Beat your chest and cry out to the Lord for the strength to carry out your mission for the sake of the salvation of the multitudes running into the grave with no hope.

Holy spirit guide us, lead us, strengthen us and grant us wisdom to carry out our ministry, your work which you foreordained from the very beginning.

Matthew 10:16
